G.K. Chesterton

G.K. Chesterton

1874 – 1936

English writer, philosopher, lay theologian, and literary critic. Called "the prince of paradox."

About Orthodoxy

Published in 1908, Orthodoxy is Chesterton's response to critics of his earlier work Heretics. Beginning as a spiritual autobiography, it unfolds into a sustained argument for the sanity of Christian belief — not despite the strangeness of the world, but because of it.

Chesterton argued that the modern world had not tried Christianity and found it wanting; it had found it difficult and left it untried. His prose — electric, paradoxical, exuberant — remains startlingly fresh over a century later.

This edition has been typeset with care in EB Garamond, formatted for beauty and readability. It is the book as it deserves to be: in your hands, on good paper, ready to be annotated and passed on.

About Cornucopia Press

Cornucopia Press was founded in 2026 by Dylan Gous, a South African reader and publisher with a passion for the classics. Based in Pretoria — the administrative capital of South Africa — the press was established with a single conviction: that the great books deserve editions as beautiful as the ideas they contain.

Cornucopia Press is a small, independent publishing house dedicated to producing affordable, finely typeset paperbacks of works that have stood the test of time. Every title is set by hand in LaTeX, printed on demand through Lulu's global network, and made available to readers worldwide.

Dylan also runs The Apothecary, a YouTube channel exploring the work of G.K. Chesterton, philosophy, religion, and the enduring questions of Western thought. It is the natural companion to everything Cornucopia Press publishes.
